Apple Cider Vinegar-Health Benefits with cautions

Apple cider vinegar has been present in our household for manyyears and is used in various food preparations. Apple cider is prepared by aprocess called fermentation in which apple juices are mixed with yeast andeventually converted into alcohol. Further, it is broken down into acetic aciddue to the presence of natural bacteria which provides vinegar with its tangytaste and aroma. Recent research by doctors reveals that apple cider vinegar ishaving some health benefits to reduce blood sugar levels and helping in weightloss. In addition to this, consuming a prescribed amount of vinegar can alsoreduce the cholesterol level which eventually lowers heart-related diseases andincrease the good cholesterol in our body. Other benefits of apple cidervinegar include boosting stomach acid production which helps in improveddigestion. Additionally, it also acts as an antibacterial and antioxidant whichkills germs in the food and maintains your metabolism. The lymphatic system inantioxidants supports the body’s immunity and helps in detoxification.

Despite having health benefits, there are some side effectsof consuming apple cider vinegar for a long period of time as a part of dailyfood ingredients. It has been found that consuming excessive vinegar can cause aslowdown of the digestive system leading to the problem of gastroparesis inwhich nerves in the stomach fails to work normally and cause a delay indigestion. In addition to this, a large dose of vinegar can also cause lowpotassium levels and lower bone density in our bodies. However, there is notmuch clinical evidence available for the same. Drinking vinegar can harm ourteeth' enamel due to the acidic content present in vinegar. This shows that weshould be cautious and aware of the quantity of vinegar while consuming it totake advantage of its health benefits and avoid any adverse impact on our bodies.
