National Vaccination Day is observed on 16thMarch every year with a motive to spread awareness among people to getvaccinated and ensure that parents are well-informed about the vaccinationcourses mandatory for small children right from birth. India has been a drasticpast in terms of healthcare facilities and the availability of medicines tocure or prevent various diseases. However, as the nation progressed afterIndependence, India made a remarkable advancement in science and technologywhich made the country world renown in terms of medical marvels and vaccines. TheMedical and Healthcare Sector in India has been boosted in the past two decadesand there is a significant inclination of the government towards spreadingawareness for vaccination among people. A study by Statistaand WHO has found that India significantly initiates several campaigns to pace upthe doses for Covid-19 Vaccination across the States and Union Territorieswhere states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra administered the most number ofdoses (Fig. 1 & 2).

Vaccines are one of the most significant achievements in thefield of medicine. They have been instrumental in eradicating deadly diseaseslike smallpox, reducing the spread of other diseases, and saving millions oflives. Vaccines work by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodiesthat fight against disease-causing microorganisms. National Vaccination Day isan opportunity to emphasize the need for immunization and highlight theimportance of vaccines in preventing illnesses. It is also a time toacknowledge the tireless efforts of scientists, researchers, and healthcareprofessionals who have dedicated their lives to developing and administering vaccines.

Vaccines againstCOVID-19 have been developed and authorized for emergency use, with millions ofpeople receiving doses worldwide.
