Overview

Hypotension is low blood pressure, especially in the arteries of the systemic circulation. Normal blood pressure of the human body is 90/60 in adults. Hypotension triggers if your blood pressure is less than 120/90 on a regular basis. Hypotension fills the arteries with blood.

Symptoms

Some common symptoms of hypotension are: Chest pain. Shortness of breath. Headache. Severe upper back pain. Prolonged diarrhea. Irregular heartbeat. Fever higher than 38.3 °C (101 °F). Indigestion. Problems in urination. Adverse effects of the medication. Acute life-threatening allergic reaction. Seizures. Excessive blood loss through injury. Night blindness. Clammy skin. Dizziness and fatigue. Causes

The causes of low blood pressure are not very accurate, but can be associated with the following: Heart Disease. Postural hypotension. Liver disease. Heart failure. Irregular heartbeat. Widening of blood vessel. Low and high body temperature. Reaction from medicine or alcohol. Pregnancy.

the doctor will be easily able to diagnose hypotension by measuring your blood pressure. Other tests like ECG and blood tests would also be performed.


Treatments

Following are some measures that you can follow to cure hypotension: .. Take plenty of fluids When you sweat, your blood pressure starts declining quickly because your body starts losing liquids. So, whenever you feel low, you should drink coconut water, juice and lemonade. By taking fluids, your blood pressure will restore to normal. Take your meals on time Always take your meals on time. Never skip a meal. If you do not eat appropriately, then your blood pressure will start declining, and you will feel lazy. So, whenever you feel low, just take your meal or eat a piece of fruit. Get up slowly Get up slowly from your bed after sleep. You might faint because of a change in the position.


Prevention

Following are some measures that can be used to prevent hypotension: Always take appropriate diet (green vegetables and fiber rich foods). If you are in doubt, go for a regular blood pressure check. If you feel dizzy and suffer from anxiety regularly, immediately see a doctor. Always keep yourself hydrated. Change your position slowly. If you try to stand up instantly, then may faint due to low blood pressure.
